Re: Is my husband addicted to sponsoring?

I understand your point, after being in AA sober for over 35 years, I slipped back because of body pain. I am looking for someone to call or text to. Maybe your husband could point me in a direction. Thanks Jim Welcome Jim, glad you found us and thanks for posting. I found my sponsor through partic...

Re: To Thine Own Self Be True

The way I interpret it, is that I have to first be honest with myself before I can make this program work for me. If I'm not true to myself, how can I be true to someone else, or the AA program? I have finally accepted the fact that I have to be honest with myself, and admit that I have a problem, ...

Re: Outgoing & Incoming forum Trusted Servants

Woo hoo! Just following directions. So, any "unelected trusted servant", performing service for the group, "with such rights" (having temporary authority abilities, over another individual, to participate in a meeting) should serve in that position for a period not exceeding 2 years, and not return ...

Re: Can I go back

Hi! Basically if a person can not control his drinking, that's alcoholism. If you can go back to your previous habit, you probably aren't alcoholic. If you can't, there's help available in AA to stop completely. An alcoholic has a physical reaction to alcoholic which generates craving for more. That...

Re: Can I go back

Hi! Give it a try, see if it works :) You could have come to your senses before turning the corner to being alcoholic. Experience will give you your answer.

Re: alcoholic and recovering alcoholic

Yes, I have experienced this. Run to the next Al-Anon meeting you can find.

In my case, the bf got sober after we broke up. He did get sober though. I don't regret the breakup but of course it was heartbreaking -- still, it was helpful in my own recovery.

Re: Difficulty with spouse drinking

hi, I'm a little concerned that you may not understand fully the illness nature of alcoholism or the vows you took getting married. I say that because a friend of mine got sober 15 years after her husband did. Never did he put restrictions on her or give her anything but support, attention and devot...

Re: Can someone who never ever drank claim they are an alcoh

Hi, I've actually heard about this before -- people going to AA, even closed meetings, without being (as yet) self-diagnosed alcoholic. I think it was okay even if weird. AA is inclusive and I've heard of many instances (even been a part of meetings) where people show up who don't "belong". I can th...
