The e-AA Group Guideline when Quoting AAWS literature

Introduction > General eAA Concepts > Procedures > Guidelines > Positions

When quoting A.A. literature (a phrase, sentence or brief paragraph excerpted from A.A.), all venues (Email Recovery Meetings, Chat Meetings, and Discussion Forums) of the e-AA Group will make every effort to apply AAWS reprint policy by including the credit line:

Reprinted from (name of publication, page number), with permission of A.A. World Services, Inc.)

As stated in The A.A. Service Manual:

"Local A.A. publications are permitted to quote a phrase, sentence or brief paragraph excerpted from A.A. literature such as The Big Book, Alcoholics Anonymous, the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, The A.A. Service Manual and Conference-approved pamphlets without a prior, written request to do so", accompanied by a credit line (that) should read: Reprinted from (name of publication, page number), with permission of A.A. World Services, Inc.)"

The e-AA Group observes AA Traditions regarding literature not published
by AAWS and Grapevine (or their International equivalents).  Whilst we
recognize that many other sources of inspiration exist which can be
helpful to individuals finding recovery, and individuals may
reasonably share their experiences to this effect, it should be
understood that the Group as a whole neither endorses nor opposes
them.
